The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China opened Wednesday as socialism with Chinese characteristics enters a “new era”

The theme of the congress is to “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind， hold high the banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics， secure a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects， strive for the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era， and work tirelessly to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation”。

Stressing it is imperative that China develop a modernized economy， he described supply_side structural reform as the main task， and urged more efforts for better quality， higher efficiency， and more robust drivers of economic growth。

Xi called for raising total factor productivity and accelerating the building of an industrial system that promotes coordinated development of the real economy with technological innovation， modern finance， and human resources。

We should endeavor to develop an economy with more effective market mechanisms， dynamic micro_entities， and sound macro_regulation，” he said。
